The lively city of San Antonio is buzzing with excitement as the much-awaited Fiesta season draws near. One event that locals and tourists alike eagerly anticipate is the electrifying “Chanclas y Cervezas.” This year rings in the 5th anniversary of Chanclas y Cervezas and the beginning of Fiesta season on Saturday, April 20th at The Greenline, a popular park in South San Antonio.
Beyond the overflowing joy and festivity, Chanclas y Cervezas brings a noble cause to the table by supporting Brooks Gives Back. This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has, so far, distributed an impressive $200,000 to other nonprofits functioning in and around the Brooks region.
This year’s event promises a stellar lineup of entertainment, headlined by the ‘King of Kumbia’ himself, A.B. Quintanilla III y Los Kumbia All-Starz. Along with this legendary act, the day is also filled with other engaging activities like photo opportunities, games, a petting zoo, and a unique “chancla” (flip-flop) obstacle course. If you think you have a good arm, you can compete in the chancla throwing contest and have a chance to be crowned “Rey” and “Reina” of the Chanclas Court.
Chanclas y Cervezas ensures something entertaining for everyone – kids under 12 enter for free, and even pets on leashes are welcomed. If you wish to take part in the fun, you can pre-book your tickets online for only $15, with prices set to increase to $20 on the event day. With plentiful free parking, the organizers ensure a hassle-free experience for all attendees.
Organizers express profound gratitude to all the generous sponsors who help make Chanclas y Cervezas a reality, including the Official Beer Sponsor, Dos Equis. Remember, all proceeds from the event go towards supporting the remarkable charitable work executed by Brooks Gives Back.
