San Antonio Police Crack Down on Recent Armed Robberies

San Antonio has been shaken recently with a string of armed robberies that left many residents feeling concerned about their safety. The local police are now urging the community to help them in their efforts to track down the suspects responsible for these crimes. Here’s a rundown of the incidents and how you can assist law enforcement.

Dollar General Robbery

One incident that has caught the police’s attention occurred at a Dollar General located on U.S. Highway 90. Around 1 p.m. on a recent Tuesday, a suspect strolled into the store and started filling a backpack with items he had no intention of paying for. When store employees confronted him, he did not hesitate to pull out a handgun, threatening their safety before making a hasty exit with the stolen merchandise.

It’s alarming to think that someone would resort to such actions just to grab a few items. Police are now seeking any information from the public that could lead to the arrest of this suspect. The San Antonio Crime Stoppers have even stepped in to offer a handsome reward of up to $5,000 for useful tips. If you think you can help, don’t hesitate to call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-7867 or use the P3 Tips App.

Shooting During a Robbery Attempt

In a more serious incident, a shooting took place during an attempted robbery at gunpoint on the city’s Northeast Side. This occurred around 2:19 a.m. in the 4400 block of Rittiman Road. Two males approached a security guard with the intent to rob him at gunpoint. However, the situation escalated, and a firefight ensued, leaving one suspect injured. Fortunately, law enforcement was able to locate the second suspect who fled on foot.

The injured suspect is currently hospitalized and is in “serious condition.” The police have been hard at work investigating this incident, and they are appealing to the community to come forward with any information that might assist them.

Valero Gas Station Robbery

In another shocking event, a robbery unfolded at a Valero gas station on Culebra Road around 3:20 p.m. on a recent Saturday. Here, two suspects were involved in a robbery that escalated to violence; they not only stole a gold necklace from a victim at gunpoint but also physically assaulted him. After the robbery, one suspect made a run for it on foot while the other jumped into the passenger seat of a grey Acura sedan.

Once again, Crime Stoppers has stepped in with a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in this disturbing case. The public’s vigilance may very well aid in bringing these brazen robbers to justice.

Boost Mobile Store Heist

Just to add to the mix, there was also a striking robbery at a Boost Mobile store on Potranco Road that took place on March 6. Around 10:15 a.m., the suspect posed as a customer, seeking help with purchasing a phone. But things took a turn for the worse when he brandished a stun gun, threatening a young employee—who was only 19 years old—into complying with his demands. With approximately $10,000 worth of phones in his grasp, the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

As in the other cases, authorities are encouraging anyone with tips or information about this incident to reach out. Together, we can help make San Antonio a safer place for everyone.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, remember that you can remain anonymous. Now’s the time for the community to unite and support the local law enforcement in their pursuit of justice.
