Return of the Living Dead Reunion Brings Cult Film’s Stars to San Antonio

Zombie Fest Feast scheduled for this weekend at San Antonio’s Ingram Park Mall will reunite the cast members from the 1985 horror-comedy, Return of the Living Dead. This free event is expected to draw numerous fans for a chance to meet and interact with the cult horror’s stars.

Return of the Living Dead took the world by storm in the mid-80s. Renowned for its raucous punk soundtrack and introducing the idea of zombies craving brains, the shoestring budget film became a cult classic. This weekend’s event organized by Retro City Events sets to honor this historic piece of silver screen art.

The Star-Studded Line-up

Fans are in for a special treat as the event will bring together several stars from the film. The legendary scream queen, Linnea Quigley, known for portraying the punk-turned-zombie character, Trash, will be in attendance. Other iconic Return of the Living Dead actors including Thom Mathews, Miguel Nunez, and Beverly Randolph will also be present.

The meet-and-greets with these seasoned actors present a unique opportunity for fans to interact and share memorable moments. Further adding to the festivities are vendors, photographable backdrops, and a zombie costume contest. VIP passes are available online for fans wishing for an exclusive experience.

Q&A with Linnea Quigley

Recognized widely for her notable roles in various horror films like Graduation Day and Silent Night, Deadly Night, Linnea Quigley sat down to discuss why horror fans still love Return of the Living Dead after almost 40 years and shared her love for animals and experiences in LA’s punk scene.

According to Linnea, the reason why Return of the Living Dead still resonates with modern viewers is its universal appeal. Combining elements of horror, comedy, and action, the film offers something for everyone. The Davenport, Iowa native also shared her love for villainous roles, explaining, “It’s so much more fun than being the nice girl.”

Reflecting on her punk background, Linnea delved into her time in LA’s underground scene. As part of The Skirts, an all-woman band, she rubbed shoulders with punk rock icons like The Go-Go’s and The Motels. This rich experience might have indirectly influenced her casting as Trash in Return of the Living Dead, she speculated.

Besides her illustrious acting career, Linnea is also a dedicated animal-rights advocate, with a startup animal shelter to her credit. Balancing her passion for acting and animal welfare, she is currently involved in two films, The Witches of Sands and Gaslight, in addition to managing the shelter.

Bringing Back the 80s Punk Scene

The return of the iconic stars of Return of the Living Dead to San Antonio is set to take fans on a nostalgic journey back to the 80s punk scene. With the complimentary blend of horror and comedy, complete with a compelling punk soundtrack, the film has easily stood the test of time.
