San Antonio Police Release Name of Man Shot, Killed by Officers Following an Attempted Run-Down

In a fresh update on a case from past Sunday, the San Antonio Police Department has officially released the name of a man who was shot and killed by police officers. The incident transpired when the man allegedly tried to run down the officers with a car.
The Incident
On Sunday at around 7 p.m., officers responded to a call from a Northwest Side apartment complex, where an individual was reported to be smoking marijuana by the pool. Upon their arrival, officers located a car in the parking lot, which had earlier been reported as stolen. They parked their patrol car behind the suspected vehicle before addressing the pot smoking report.
On returning to the parking lot after attending to the reported incident, officers reportedly witnessed a man getting into the stolen car. It is alleged that the man then drove over a curb and began heading towards the officers. Believing that the man was attempting to run them down, the officers opened fire.
The man, now identified as 21-year-old Angel Gabriel Cuevas, was shot once to the head. He was later transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers on Administrative Duty
According to official records, the two officers involved in the shooting, named Travis Maxwell and Daniel Garcia, are relatively new joiners, having been with the department for less than a year. In accordance with standard departmental procedures, both officers have been placed on administrative duty until the completion of the investigation into the shooting.
