Unfortunately, our county’s rate was higher than that of the entire state of Texas. This tells us loud and clear: we can’t afford to stop,” Higgins stated.

According to one of their representatives, Anthony Delabano, Narcan can offer a significant chance for survival. “If used within five minutes of an overdose, Narcan has an 80% success rate. But that doesn’t mean you can just run to a vending machine in an emergency. It’s crucial to have Narcan on hand,” Delabano advised. “When you see free Narcan being offered, make sure you pick it up and keep it accessible—put it in your purse or pocket.”
