San Antonio Traffic Alert: Fatal Wreck Closes Major Highway

Hey there, San Antonio! We have some not-so-great news for you this afternoon as a tragic car accident has taken a serious turn for the worse, and it’s causing major headaches for drivers trying to navigate the usually bustling I-10.

What Happened?

Earlier today, just before 3 p.m., the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a devastating wreck near Ralph Fair Road. It appears that one vehicle was in the process of being loaded onto a trailer when it was suddenly rear-ended by another car. The result? A fatal outcome that has left one person dead, while three others were rushed to a local hospital due to their injuries, which, as of now, remain unspecified.

Unfortunately, details surrounding the individual who lost their life remain unclear. At this moment, we don’t know the age or name of the deceased, and many in the community are simply left heartbroken and searching for answers.

Traffic? More Like a Parking Lot!

If you’re planning on hitting the road in San Antonio this afternoon, you might want to reconsider your route. With all the main lanes of I-10 West now completely blocked off, it’s no surprise that traffic is currently backed up all the way to FM-3351 and Ralph Fair Road. Talk about a frustrating commute!

The Texas Department of Transportation is stepping in to help direct traffic but with major delays extending out pretty far, it might be a tricky situation for a while. Drivers are being urged to steer clear of I-10 if possible and find an alternative way around.

Finding an Alternative Route

So what can you do if your usual route has become a total standstill? One suggestion is to take Highway 281 Northbound followed by a left turn onto Highway 46 Westbound. Gotta love those backroads, right? While it may take a few extra minutes, this alternative could help you avoid being caught up in the traffic mayhem.

Major traffic delays—up to an hour—are being reported in the area, so if you’ve got somewhere important to be, try to leave a little earlier to give yourself some extra time.

Stay Updated

As this is an ongoing situation, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as more information rolls in. Remember, safety first! Keep those seatbelts fastened, and stay focused on the road. It’s a sad day for our community, but together we can hope for better days ahead.

So, San Antonio, stay safe out there! And if you’re out driving, please stay alert to any changes in traffic conditions. Here’s hoping for a speedy resolution and safe travels for everyone on the road.
