Apartment Under Renovation Battered by Late-night Blaze, SAFD Underscores

San Antonio Fire Department rushed to the scene near Westward Drive and Highways 90 and Military

San Antonio Fire investigators are currently investigating a fire that blazed through an apartment complex late Thursday night. The incident took place around 11:40 pm in the 2500 block of Westward Drive, conveniently located near both Highway 90 and West Military Drive situated in the city’s West Side area.

Fire Department Discovers Fire after initial Search

Firefighters who initially arrived at the scene reported sizeable volumes of smoke, which made it challenging to immediately pinpoint the fire’s source. However, after an invasive search, they managed to locate the affected apartment and swiftly extinguish the flames.

Fire officials stated that the consuming apartment was possibly under renovation, given that it did not have any active gas or electricity connections. This information raises more questions about the fire’s origins, considering that most common causes of household fires are related to faulty electrical and heating systems.

No Reported Injuries from the Fire

There were, thankfully, no reported injuries resulting from the late-night fire. Nonetheless, the damage inflicted on the renovated building is considerable. The cost of the damages has not been officially shared.

Fire Investigation Team to Probe into Cause

The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined at this stage. A fire investigation team has been assembled and dispatched to the site to shed some light on the situation and to unearth any potential fire starting factor. Their input will be crucial in providing relevant answers and closure to this unfortunate incident.

Fire and Police Department Responded to the Incident

Both San Antonio Fire Department and Police Department arrived promptly at the scene, responding to the call of duty. The swift action ensured that the fire was managed efficiently, reducing further potential damage and ensuring the safety of the local community.

Estimate of Damages Yet to be Provided

A detailed estimate evaluating the extent of the damages induced by the fire on the apartment complex is yet to be provided but is undoubtedly expected to be significant. The lead authorities are currently working on providing this information.
