Bexar County Commemorates Five-Year Anniversary of Meagan Gonzales’ Disappearance

Bexar County Marks Five Years Since Meagan Gonzales Went Missing

It has been five long years since the community of Bexar County faced a heart-wrenching tragedy with the disappearance of Meagan Gonzales. November 10th, a date etched in the memory of her family, friends, and many across the area, reminds everyone of the last moment she spoke with her father. It was a moment filled with warmth and love, but it also became the foundation of a painful journey toward finding justice.

A Father’s Heartbreak

Eddie Gonzales, Meagan’s father, opened up about the mixed emotions he experiences on this day each year. “It’s terrible. This event is not easy for me,” he admitted, letting tears slip as he reflected on their last conversation. “I was thinking that’s the last day we were talking five years ago and what we talked about. I was imagining her being there and then we were talking just like old times,” he shared, his voice tinged with sorrow.

After their conversation on November 10, fate took a devastating turn. Only weeks later, on December 3, 2019, a routine moment turned tragic when a farmer stumbled upon Meagan’s body burned in a remote field on Wisdom Road, deep in southwest Bexar County. The loss was catastrophic for a family that held her dear.

Searching for Answers

While time has rolled on, the search for answers has not stopped for Meagan’s family. This year, some new leads have come to light in her case that offer a flicker of hope. Authorities released a sketch of a man reported driving Meagan’s truck just days after her disappearance. Additionally, an AI-generated image depicting Meagan has been shared in the hope of reconnecting dots previously missed.

In an effort to keep Meagan’s memory alive, her family, along with the local nonprofit Search & Support San Antonio, organized an outreach event last Sunday. Dressed in t-shirts adorned with Meagan’s face and handing out fliers and bottles of water, the family is deeply committed to spreading awareness about her case. “It’s important because we won’t forget Meagan, and we are still looking for justice for Meagan,” said Lori Whittmeyer, an Intake Case Manager with the nonprofit. “They deserve justice,” she added, expressing the urgency behind their mission.

A Community Rallying for Justice

Such outreach events are not just a way to distribute information; they represent a community effort to keep the search for Meagan Gonzales at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Organizers hope that by gently reminding the public about her story, someone will step forward with crucial information—perhaps the missing piece that could finally lead to an arrest.

Eddie Gonzales remains steadfast in his commitment to finding justice for his daughter. “I really wish I could hear that, and hopefully, I will for Christmas, a good Christmas present there,” he said with a mixture of hope and desire. “I’m never going to stop. I’m going to keep on and keep on until we get the responsible people and justice for my daughter.”

Community Support

For those who may have information regarding Meagan’s case, Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for leads that can assist in making an arrest. Anonymity is guaranteed, so anyone with information can come forward without fear. If you wish to help, you can also reach out to Search & Support San Antonio via their email or phone number.

This holiday season, Eddie Gonzales is asking for more than just traditional gifts; he is yearning for answers. Together, with the community’s support, there is hope that justice for Meagan Gonzales will one day be served.
