Bexar County, University Health Team Up to Host No-Cost Flu Shot Event

In an earnest bid to protect the community against the flu virus, Bexar County and University Health have come together to host a no-cost drive-thru flu shot event. This initiative aims to boost community health, especially during the upcoming flu season, by providing free vaccinations to adults and young ones aged 6 months and above.

The organizers have emphasized the ease and accessibility of this public health event where Bexar County residents can get a flu shot without getting out of their cars. However, COVID-19 vaccines will not be available at this event.

Necessity of Pre-Registration

Due to the limited drive-thru appointments, individuals who want to avail themselves of the no-cost flu shots are required to register online. The vaccination event has been designed to ensure both the efficiency of service and compliance with basic public health standards, such as social distancing and hygiene protocols.

Save the Dates

Four separate events are scheduled to take place on the following dates:

• Saturday, Sept. 28: 8 a.m. – noon, Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston St.
• Saturday, Oct. 12: 8 a.m. – noon, SWISD, 11914 Dragon Lane.
• Saturday, Oct. 26: 8 a.m. – noon, Gustafson Stadium, 7001 Culebra Road (found on South Cherry Street, Lot B or C).
• Saturday, Nov. 9: 8 a.m. – noon, Dub Farris Athletic Complex, 8400 North Loop 1604 W.

Each event is to be hosted by the local commissioner of the respective precinct.

Total Community Effort

The no-cost flu shot campaign is being conducted in partnership with University Health, Energy Transfer, and Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union. It is part of the larger community efforts that aim to strengthen public health and empower residents with resources to combat the spread of flu.
