San Antonio Bids Farewell to Bexar Goods Co. After 14 Inspiring Years

In a bittersweet turn of events, San Antonio is saying goodbye to one of its beloved businesses, Bexar Goods Co. The luxury leather crafting company, known for its high-quality, hand-crafted leather goods, officially closed its doors for the last time on March 31. After an incredible 14 years, the founders have decided to move on, leaving behind a legacy of fashionable accessories and a heartfelt thank you note to the supportive community.

The Journey of Bexar Goods

Bexar Goods Co. started its journey back in 2011 when one of the founders, Guy Rubio, dived into the world of leather craftsmanship by purchasing some leather-working tools. What began as a small venture focusing on bespoke men’s bags blossomed into a treasure trove of handmade products loved by many. Over the years, the business pivoted to cater to a wider audience with a fabulous range of smaller goods like wallets, keychains, and stylish ball caps.

The unique cactus logo became synonymous with the brand, making their products stand out in the competitive market. There was even a special bond with the San Antonio Spurs, who collaborated with Bexar Goods on limited-edition collections featuring the team’s throwback colors, delighting fans and customers alike.

More Than Just a Store

Bexar Goods didn’t stop there! They took creativity on the road with Outland Provision Co., which operated out of a charming vintage Airstream trailer, bringing their goods directly to the people. However, that venture has also recently come to an end, marking a significant change in the landscape of local shopping.

As Bexar Goods winds down its operations, they have announced that they will continue made-to-order production through April. This means that while they won’t be accepting new orders, loyal customers can still fulfill existing requests, giving fans one last chance to snag a piece of the beloved brand.

What’s Next for the Founders?

Although the founders haven’t revealed what their future holds, nor if they plan to stay involved in the maker space, their heartfelt farewell noted that the stories and journeys tied to their products would live on through their customers. This farewell not only marks the end of a chapter for Bexar Goods but also reflects the lasting impact they’ve had on local craftsmanship and style.

A Community Celebration Ahead

Guayabera Fest is one such opportunity, happening on April 19 at the lively Travis Park. This festival is set to honor the cultural significance of the traditional guayabera shirts and promises to be a vibrant gathering of vendors and live music performances.

With over 40 vendors scheduled to showcase their goods, attendees are encouraged to don their guayaberas for a stylish day of fun. This free event runs from 1 PM to 8 PM, and the festival organizers have ensured it is wheelchair accessible, making it welcoming for everyone.

Come Celebrate San Antonio Style!

Organized by Divide and Conquer Denim & Leather, in collaboration with Centro San Antonio and various vendors, this festival allows the community to support local businesses while enjoying a rich cultural experience.

So as we hold onto our memories of Bexar Goods Co., let’s also keep an eye on the future. With local events like the Guayabera Fest on the horizon, San Antonio remains a vibrant hub of creativity, culture, and community spirit. Cheers to the journeys ahead!
