Exciting news for the community of San Antonio! The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center (STBTC) is set to open a brand-new donor location on the bustling South Side. This highly anticipated center is located at the vibrant 3100 block of SE Military Drive, Ste. 105, and will officially welcome donors on January 14, 2025.
To make this opening even more special, the center will feature a stunning mural created by local artist Cristina Sosa Noriega. Sosa Noriega is known for her captivating public art that celebrates Mexican culture with a unique Texan twist. Her mural at the donor center is not just a feast for the eyes; it carries a powerful message of unity and hope.
The mural beautifully illustrates the connection between blood donors and recipients, featuring the inspiring story of Mayah Zamora, a brave survivor of the tragic Robb Elementary School shooting. In a touching tribute, it also depicts her donor, 17-year-old Adrianna Garcia. This artwork aims to convey that anyone—regardless of age or gender—has the potential to be a blood donor, helping to save lives in the process.
