San Antonio has been buzzing with excitement as **Brazos County’s 4-H teams have truly stolen the spotlight** at this year’s San Antonio Livestock Show. Not only did they showcase their incredible cooking talents, but they also brought home a **plethora of awards** that left the audience cheering!
In a thrilling competition, the team of Ethan Long, Caitlin Smith, and Carson Dodd sprinted their way to victory, snagging the **Grand Champion** title in the senior division of the Team Food Challenge Contest. Their hard work and dedication paid off with a significant prize – **scholarship money** that will surely help them move towards their academic dreams. Dedication and teamwork were the name of the game; it was fantastic to see their efforts rewarded in such a big way!
The junior division also had stellar performances that deserve a shout-out. The team made up of Tatum Fritsch, Ally Kibby, and Sawyer Mau exhibited remarkable culinary skills, clinching the **reserve champion** spot! Their hard work was evident, and it was a proud moment for their community.
Not to be outdone, the fabulous trio of Elenor Carey, Elena Supak, and Tori Newton dazzled everyone with their creations in the **senior healthy desserts category**, earning them a solid second place. Meanwhile, the Shaker Bakers team, consisting of Kandon Kaspar, Scotti Beseda, MacKayla Griffin, and Haley Janish, cooked their way to third place in the senior main dish competition. Talk about talent!
In the junior healthy desserts category, another winning team emerged! The Beefmasters team, featuring Kaylyn Beseda, Emory Malota, Kloey Noska, and Tate Fritsch landed in the third position. Absolutely delicious efforts that surely tickled the judges’ taste buds!
And let’s not forget the Creative Cooks Jr. team, which brought their A-game to the junior main dish competition. Charli Hadaway, MaeBess Huette, and Taylyn Newton snatched second place, showcasing **both creativity and skill** in the kitchen. More teams were in the mix too, including Cooking Crayons, Turnip the Beet, Kucumber Kids, and Slice N Dice, all showcasing impressive culinary capabilities across various categories.
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, running from February 6 to February 22, 2025, features more than just fantastic cooking competitions! This year’s event is packed with a **tournament-style format** where 50 teams are participating in a variety of categories. Contestants faced off in friendly yet competitive matches, and the top four money winners from each bracket moved on, adding to the thrill and excitement! The overall purse for the team roping event is an eye-popping **$377,144**, showcasing just how serious this event can get. After all, there’s some serious competition out there!
As we gear up for the closing events, the finals are set for February 22 at 12:00 PM, promising even more excitement!
