Guardians of the Children Support Victims of Child Abuse

A Nonprofit Organization Taking A Stand Against Child Abuse in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX, – The Guardians of the Children, a local nonprofit, continue their commitment to defend the rights of abused children, offering them emotional support and education, advocating their cause, and raising community awareness about child abuse.

Creating Champions out of Victims

The Guardians of the Children follow a noble mission – “When a child calls, we ride.” They strive to instill confidence and resilience into the hearts of young abuse victims by ensuring they know they are not alone in their fight. Members don leather-cut vests, signified with the word “Guardians” as a beacon of hope and strength for afflicted children who might cross their path.

As emphasized by the Child Liaison of the organization, operating under the biker name “Bananas”, they act as an unwavering cheerleader for the young ones, helping them understand that they are not alone on their journey to recovery.

Providing Protection and Guidance

Devin “Shark Bait” Abscher, President of the San Antonio chapter, says the group members often protect and accompany children as they navigate their court cases, lending support throughout lengthy and often intimidating legal battles.

Aiding the Most Vulnerable in Bexar County

In 2020, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services ranked Bexar County as the third worst county in Texas for child abuse. To combat these distressing statistics, The Guardians “adopt” children under their care. These kids are gifted leather-cut vests, can select a biker name, and are offered support any time of day when they call.

Working towards Prevention

Aside from their extensive aid work on an individual level, The Guardians focus on educating the community about child abuse. They have curated a list of preventative steps anyone can take if they suspect child abuse:

  1. Call 911
  2. Intervene to stop the abuse if possible
  3. Take photos, videos, and notes of the incident
  4. Report the abuse in detail
  5. Call the Texas Abuse hotline at 800-252-5400
  6. Visit www.txabusehotline.org
  7. Get in touch with Childsafe at 210-675-9000

Enabling Healing while Empowering the Community

Working at the grassroots level, The Guardians of the Children not only extend support and protection to child abuse victims but also work tirelessly to raise awareness within society about this grievous issue. They welcome support from the community to further bolster their cause and help more children walk the path from victim to victor.
