San Antonio Celebrates Chris Madrid’s Burger Joint’s New Sunday Openings!
San Antonio is buzzing with excitement as Chris Madrid’s Burger Joint has officially been ranked No. 3 among the Top 15 Burgers in our vibrant city! Located at 1900 Blanco Road, San Antonio, TX 78212, this legendary eatery is finally opening its doors on Sundays starting April 6, making it easier than ever to sink your teeth into their famed burgers!
A Bit of History
Let’s take a little trip down memory lane. This iconic burger joint was founded 48 years ago by a proud graduate of the University of Texas. Back in the day, it was known as “Tacos and Burgers,” but after a successful few years, the name was simplified to what we lovingly know today. In 1980, the name change reflected the burger joint’s growing reputation for mouthwatering burgers.
Although our beloved founder Chris Madrid passed away in 2012, his spirit remains very much alive in the restaurant. The establishment faced a tough time just 45 days after Chris’s passing with a fire that threatened its existence. But like any good burger, Chris Madrid’s showed resilience, reopening in 2019 and bouncing back strong!
Weathering the Storms
The restaurant adapted beautifully during the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing to serve their famously delicious Macho Burgers dripping with home-style cheddar cheese. It’s clear how much the community means to them, and the loyal customers couldn’t agree more. After all, who can resist those cheesy delights?
Sunday Opening Celebration
Mark your calendars! To celebrate their new Sunday openings, Chris Madrid’s is throwing a fantastic Opening Celebration on April 6 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests can look forward to some exciting perks:

The Wemby Burger Challenge
Speaking of excitement, sports enthusiasts will not want to miss out on the newly launched Wemby Burger Challenge, named after the NBA Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama. This epic burger features not one, not two, but four juicy patties piled high and smothered in layers of cheddar cheese! For just $18, daring contestants can attempt to finish this towering beast. But there’s more! Not only do finishers get a cool T-shirt, but they also earn a spot on the coveted Wemby Wall of Fame.
At the challenge’s launch, 15 brave souls rose to the occasion, and guess what? Each one of them bravely finished the burger! Ten percent of the Wemby Burger Challenge proceeds go to the Spurs Foundation, making it a win-win for everyone involved.
