Starting March 25, the exit from eastbound Loop 1604 to IKEA-RBFCU Parkway will succumb to a permanent closure, as confirmed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The closing is an integral part of the I-35 Northeast Expansion Central project, targeting an addition of elevated lanes along the I-35 section from Loop 410 to FM 3009. As part of this robust expansion, an access point to these elevated lanes near Lookout Road is planned where traffic will then be redirected.
The details surrounding the arrangement suggest that once the IKEA-RBFCU Parkway exit is officially sealed off, the Lookout Road exit will serve as an alternate path to facilitate traffic into that area.
More comprehensive information on the project, as well as weekly updates regarding possible closures in the region, can be viewed here.
The I-35 Northeast Expansion Central project is a vast development aimed at improving the overall traffic situation in the area. It primarily aims at adding elevated lanes on the stretch of I-35 from Loop 410 to FM 3009.
