Community Leaders Break Ground on Affordable Housing Project in San Antonio

New Beginnings for Low-Income Families

San Antonio has taken a significant step toward addressing its affordable housing crisis as community leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of the Four25 San Pedro Apartments on Monday. This new complex will feature 80 rental units specifically designed to serve individuals and families earning at or below 60% of the area median income, which equates to approximately $47,800 or less for a family of three.

Support for the Homeless Community

A notable aspect of this project is the dedication of 25 units specifically for individuals or families who have faced homelessness for a year or more. The nonprofit organization SAMMinistries will play a crucial role in providing supportive services, ensuring that these residents have access to necessary resources, including connections to mental and physical health services through available on-site clinics.

Community Resources and Activities

The supportive offerings don’t stop there. All tenants at the Four25 San Pedro Apartments will benefit from a variety of additional services, including:

  • A food pantry for those in need
  • Bi-monthly arts, crafts, and recreational activities
  • Income tax preparation assistance

Investment in Neighborhoods

Situated in the 400 block of San Pedro Avenue, this project marks the culmination of the affordable housing initiatives supported by the **2017 Neighborhood Improvements Bond**. Local officials and organizations emphasized the necessity of such projects to ensure that everyone in San Antonio has access to safe and affordable housing options.

A Vision for the Future

The Four25 San Pedro Apartments serves as a beacon of hope for many in the community, reflecting a shared commitment to tackling challenges related to housing affordability in San Antonio. With a focus on inclusivity and support, this project stands as a testament to the importance of community-driven solutions.
