San Antonio Celebrates Dia De Los Muertos with Tradition and Color
In the heart of San Antonio, the vibrant spirit of Dia De Los Muertos was alive and well as families, friends, and visitors gathered to honor the tradition on a beautiful evening this past November 2nd. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the renowned Pearl Brewery became a magical place of remembrance, joy, and celebration as the community came together to pay tribute to their loved ones, both living and departed.
A Night Full of Altars and Art
This year, the Pearl was adorned with seven stunning altars set up around the grounds, each telling its own story of remembrance. The most notable was located at the historic Hotel Emma, where guests were entranced by the warmth and creativity infused into each offering. A community altar also graced the space under the beautiful shade structure, inviting attendees to pause, reflect, and remember. Visitors particularly enjoyed the Tzompantli art installation, showcasing 30 hand-painted skulls that contributed to the festive atmosphere, beautifully bridging the past and present.
Local organizations such as YWLA and Hawthorne Academy, along with the Mexican Consulate, created altars that reflected their unique perspectives on this cherished tradition.
