A dishwasher that had not been operational since the tenant moved into the apartment triggered a series of events that resulted in severe consequences for the owner and multiple residents on Sunday morning.
According to the San Antonio Fire Department, reports of smoke were received from the 8700 block of Marbach Road at The Legend Apartment Complex around 9:30 a.m. on the Westside of San Antonio. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the homeowner’s dishwasher was emitting smoke and causing leakage, resulting in damage throughout the apartment floor that spread to adjacent units below.
The dishwasher malfunction led to an estimated $30,000 in damages. Residents in the apartments located both above and below the affected unit have been displaced as a result of the incident. These individuals are currently awaiting reassignment by the apartment management to alternative accommodation within the complex.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the dishwasher malfunction. Authorities have stated that the owner of the apartment has yet to be located and informed of the extent of the damage caused by the faulty appliance.
The repercussions of a malfunctioning dishwasher at The Legend Apartment Complex in San Antonio have highlighted the importance of regular maintenance and prompt repair of household appliances to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
