San Antonio – A tense custody dispute turned violent Saturday evening when a drive-by shooting left two individuals wounded. The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Zarzamora Street, as San Antonio police reported.
According to authorities, the chaos began with a heated argument between the mother and the grandfather of a young girl residing on Royston Avenue. As tensions escalated, the mother decided to leave the scene in a vehicle accompanied by her boyfriend, as well as the girl and a 10-year-old boy.
Unyielding, the grandfather pursued the family’s vehicle and eventually caught up with them. In a shocking turn of events, he fired multiple shots at the car. Authorities later confirmed that the mother was hit in the side while her boyfriend sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Fortunately, both injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the grandfather drove back to Royston Avenue, where he was detained by police for further questioning. Thankfully, the children in the vehicle were unharmed and are in the process of being released to other family members.
