San Antonio, TX – A tragic incident unfolded on Friday evening, as a driver was arrested following a fatal collision on Southwest Loop 410. The accident resulted in the death of a 40-year-old woman, who was struck after her vehicle became incapacitated.
The incident occurred around 6:45 PM in the 4900 block of Southwest Loop 410, near New Valley Hi Drive. Authorities reported that the victim’s car ran out of gas, prompting her to pull over to the right shoulder. After stepping out from the driver’s side, she was hit by a Toyota Tundra driven by the suspect, identified as Juan Rabago.
Rabago remained at the scene following the collision as police and emergency responders arrived. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, shocking witnesses and the local community.
After the collision, officers conducted an intoxication assessment on Rabago. Police reported that the assessment indicated he was intoxicated at the time of the crash. As a result, Rabago was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on charges of intoxication manslaughter.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to confirm the identity of the victim and determine the official cause of death. This heart-wrenching accident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of impaired driving.
