Guests can enjoy mechanical bull rides, custom hat branding, and a delicious Tex-Mex menu. With festive décor and a lively atmosphere, this pop-up offers an unforgettable experience during the Stock Show festivities.
If you’re in San Antonio, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for! High Praise Rooftop Bar has just launched an exciting new pop-up themed after the rodeo, called Dusty Diamond. This cheerful spot is taking over the bar every Thursday through Sunday until March 2, offering a fun-filled celebration just in time for the Stock Show festivities.
High Praise Rooftop Bar, perched atop the Intercontinental San Antonio Riverwalk, opened its doors back in August 2024. Now, it’s stepping into the spotlight with its very first rodeo-themed pop-up experience, and it could very well become a cherished tradition for years to come. The atmosphere at Dusty Diamond is something special, featuring delightful decor such as cowhide rugs, wagon wheels, and rustic lanterns that transport you straight into the heart of Texas.
What’s a rodeo without some exhilarating activities? Guests will be thrilled to hop on a mechanical bull and test their skills at lassoing. For those who want to add a personal touch to their attire, you can get hats branded or bandanas embroidered by the local favorite, Hat Bar San Antonio. Feeling a little fancy? You can even shop for beautiful jewelry by Kendra Scott and stunning handmade leather goods by Tried and True Leather, and check out the branding options from Tecovas.
No rodeo-themed event is complete without a fabulous array of cocktails, and the Dusty Diamond pop-up does not disappoint. With a selection of ten special beverages inspired by beloved country music hits, the drinks menu is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Don’t miss out on the refreshing “Boots Stop Working” made with Tito’s Vodka and other delightful ingredients. If you lean toward whiskey, the “If I was a Cowboy” cocktail featuring Pendleton Whiskey is a must-try. For something a little different, check out “This One’s for the Girls,” a prickly pear ranch water concocted with Surtierra tequila.
But wait, there’s more! Every other Saturday from 7 to 9 pm, guests can sample Surtierra tequila and Stockman Wine in the hotel lobby, with the next tasting set for February 15. An exciting initiative accompanies this—every bottle of tequila purchased helps support scholarship funds for Texas students. Now that’s a good reason to raise a glass!
Feeling peckish? The food menu you’ll find at Dusty Diamond features mouthwatering Tex-Mex options that will have your taste buds dancing with joy. Choose from delicious shrimp-esquites tostadas, classic deviled eggs, chips and caviar, pulled pork sliders, and spicy chicken lollipops drizzled with jalapeño honey. With such delish options, you might find it hard to narrow down your choices!
Ready to join in on the fun? High Praise operates every Thursday and Friday from 5 to 11 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 11 pm, and Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm. For those heading to the Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive on Saturday, February 1, the bar opens early at 9 am, giving you a prime spot to kick off the festivities.
Speaking of festivities, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo kicks off on February 6 and runs until February 23. Let’s not forget the impressive preparations underway at the Frost Bank Center, where over 2,000 tons of dirt were delivered to ensure smooth rodeo operations—a tradition that dates all the way back to 1988! It’s all hands on deck, with volunteers dedicating hours to prepare the venue for this much-loved event.
With several promotions available, including $3 Thursdays and gift card offers for rodeo attendees, there’s no excuse to skip out on the fun. The Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive kicked off the rodeo season in style on February 1, and there’s no better way to celebrate than joining in at Dusty Diamond.
Grab your friends, put on your best cowboy boots, and get ready for an unforgettable rodeo experience right in San Antonio!
