San Antonio’s Elnuh Drops Captivating New Album ‘Entropy’

San Antonio, get ready to welcome the fresh sounds of Elnuh as they unveil their new album ‘Entropy’! After teasing fans with two enticing singles, this album is sure to deliver a musical journey that feels both complete and satisfying. Just like a gourmet meal after a long binge on appetizers, this album is set to leave listeners feeling fulfilled.

It’s important to note that this is Elnuh’s first full-length album recorded in a proper studio, engineered by the talented Brant Sankey right here in San Antonio. The production of ‘Entropy’ steers clear of unnecessary overdubs, aiming to capture the electrifying atmosphere of their live performances. The band is determined to share the energy and intimacy of their shows, making it a key element in the album’s creation.

A captivating fact is that the core of the album was crafted by recording live. Following this, the lead singer layered her guitar and vocals, adding a personal touch that resonates deeply. This approach, colorful and raw, is a reflection of the band’s rich history and musical evolution over the years.

Breaking Free from Genres

One of the standout characteristics of Elnuh is their refusal to be boxed into a single genre. The band draws inspiration from a myriad of musical styles, including influences like Halo Benders, Autolux, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Silver Jews, Pinback, and My Bloody Valentine. These influences are woven into Elnuh’s sound but transformed into something uniquely their own, giving listeners a refreshing take on familiar tones. Their music can be described as simple, yet original, marking years of hard work and dedication in the vibrant San Antonio music scene.

A Journey Through Music

The journey of the lead singer started early in life with piano lessons and an impulse to mimic catchy tunes from television. As she grew older, her curiosity led her to the exciting world of emo music in middle school, driven by experiences from concerts at events like The Warped Tour. It was at Imagine Books, a cozy all-ages venue owned by educator Don Hurd, where she first experienced the DIY music scene in San Antonio, giving her a chance to showcase her talents.

Imagine Books doubled as a quiet bookstore by day and a buzzing music venue at night, cultivating a lively atmosphere for young music lovers and artists alike. It was here that Elnuh’s lead singer performed her initial gigs with her former band Invision Love, immersing herself deeply into the local music landscape. After some time, she formed another group called Octahedron with her brother, which gained traction and even toured around the state.

Following four amazing years with Octahedron, she shifted gears by recording music at home. This creative process led to the birth of Elnuh’s first album — something sincere yet understated, making a mark on the hearts of local music enthusiasts.

From Tucson Back to San Antonio

In a whirlwind twist, the musician took a brief detour to Tucson, Arizona, working in a vintage costume shop while living amidst the vibrant yet rugged desert lifestyle. She explored the city’s music scene, yet Harbored a yearning for her roots in San Antonio. This strong connection to her hometown’s culture fueled the artistic vision behind ‘Entropy’.

The day fans have been waiting for is just around the corner! Elnuh will be holding the release show for ‘Entropy’ on Sunday, March 30, at The Lonesome Rose, located at 2114 N. St. Mary’s St.. With tickets priced at just $12, this promises to be an exciting gathering for music lovers wanting to experience the emotion and creativity firsthand that Elnuh is eager to share.
