Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
As we swing into September, it’s time to celebrate the vibrant culture of our community with Dieciséis de Septiembre festivities! Kicking off the month-long celebrations for Hispanic Heritage Month, this city-wide event features parties, performances, and parades. Mark your calendars because September 16 is a historic day. It commemorates Mexico’s independence from Spain, which is incredibly significant to our San Antonio community, given its rich Mexican heritage.
This year’s festivities include an exciting lineup of nearly 60 events, many of which are free! Interested in getting crafty? Visit the library to learn how to make a mini donkey piñata. Or check out Dinning with Rolando Briseño: A 50-Year Retrospective, an art exhibit that reflects on food and Mexican-American culture, running through February 9. The kickoff event is on September 10 at the Centro de Artes Gallery, featuring an exciting performance from the Guadalupe Dance Company.
