San Antonio is buzzing with excitement as the North Texas Mean Green volleyball team prepares to kick off its second season in the American Athletic Conference! This Friday at 6 p.m., they’ll take on the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in what promises to be a thrilling match at the Convocation Center, and fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.

It’s a special match for a couple of reasons. First, it marks the 40th meeting between these two teams, making UTSA the third-most common opponent in the history of UNT volleyball. A highlight from the Sunshine Invitational was the performance of Payton Van Veen, who was recognized for her exceptional skills by being named to the weekly AAC Honor Roll. So far this season, she ranks second on the team in both total blocks and aces while also placing third in kills and points. It’s safe to say she is one to watch as the season unfolds!
