Fall Arrives in San Antonio Confronted by Warm Temperatures

First Week of Fall: A Warm Welcome

The first day of fall arrived in San Antonio on Sunday, with expected forecasts promising temperatures going as high as 90° through the week. Locals yearning for cool mornings typical of autumn may have to wait a bit longer as cooler temperatures are expected to roll in only by the end of this week, according to the Weather Authority.

Tropical System in the Gulf – An Unexpected Impact on Texas

Meanwhile, an impending tropical system, potentially to be named Helene, seems likely to gain strength in the Gulf of Mexico this week. This system is predicted to find landfall from Mississippi to Florida, making regions to the east brace for potentially intense weather. Although it’s a distressing scenario for the eastern states, the tropical storm, ironically, is seen as a silver lining for Texas.

This is because insurance from Helene’s adverse effects, the storm will pull drier air into Texas, lowering the humidity levels in the region. Such changes in weather patterns will result in much-awaited, cooler morning temperatures and pleasantly warm afternoons in South Central Texas by the weekend.

A Look into the Week Ahead

As days unfold, possible chances of morning mist and stray showers haunt the Sunday. The indication of a weak cool front passing through Texas is expected to dissipate before reaching the Alamo City. Hence, in spite of the arrival of fall, it doesn’t look like the city will gain relief from warm afternoons just yet.

Residents should brace themselves for a week of above-normal temperatures, although in no way comparable to the sweltering heat of the previous week. Also, the humidity levels are expected to drop significantly by Friday, extending into the weekend, providing some relief to locals.
