Downtown S.A. Streets to Close for Filming of the Critically Acclaimed TV Series ‘1923’

The city’s Department of Arts and Culture has announced that certain streets will be closed intermittently for the remainder of the month, up until Sept. 27, to facilitate the filming of the highly anticipated second season of the unparalleled show.

Local government has collaborated seamlessly with MTV Entertainment, 101 Studios, and Paramount+ to provide logistical aid for the filming of this “Yellowstone” prequel in the bustling city center.

Road Closures and Traffic Diversion: A Comprehensive Breakdown

While the excitement around the filming of ‘1923’ is palpable, visitors and residents of San Antonio should be aware of the various road closures and traffic diversions in place for the rest of the month. Below is the structured plan for the streets in the downtown area:

From Sept. 6-15, the roads and sidewalks will remain open for public usage. However, street parking will be unavailable on Broadway between East Pecan and East Travis streets.

From Sept. 16-18, the bulk of the filming action will begin. Broadway between East Pecan and East Houston streets, Peacock Alley between Jefferson and North Alamo streets, and East Travis Street between Jefferson and North Alamo streets will be closed to vehicular traffic. During this period, only northbound traffic will be permitted on Broadway between East Pecan and 3rd streets.

On Sept. 19, in addition to the earlier traffic diversions, sidewalks on Broadway between East Pecan and East Houston streets will be closed during morning filming. The production team promises to reopen these by afternoon.

From Sept. 20-25, Broadway between East Pecan and East Houston streets, Peacock Alley between Jefferson and North Alamo streets, and East Travis Street between Jefferson and North Alamo streets will continue to stay closed for vehicular traffic. Again, only northbound traffic will be allowed on Broadway between East Pecan and 3rd streets.

By or before Sept. 27, regular traffic routines will resume as the filming closure area will be fully restored.
