Sponsor Our ArticlesOn February 24, 2025, the Finesilver Curve in San Antonio will be closed for crucial repairs, affecting the flow of traffic from Interstate 35 South to Interstate 10 West. This temporary closure is part of a significant $25.9 million project by TxDOT aimed at enhancing safety on this notorious stretch of highway. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and watch for detour signs as construction progresses until February 16, 2025. Stay updated with TxDOT for construction schedule changes and other important information.
San Antonio residents and drivers, mark February 24, 2025, on your calendars because there’s a big change coming to your daily commute! The Finesilver Curve, a key connector from Interstate 35 South to Interstate 10 West, will be temporarily closed for repairs starting at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on that day. Yes, you read that right—mark it down!
This closure isn’t just a minor inconvenience; it’s part of a larger $25.9 million road repair project spearheaded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Construction crews will be hard at work performing crucial bridge joint and rail repairs that aim to improve safety along a significant 5.5 miles of highway area in downtown San Antonio. This is especially encouraging news, as the Finesilver Curve has a reputation for being a bit perilous, with accidents involving big rigs happening all too often.
In fact, TxDOT reports an average of one big rig topple per month at this curve. Clearly, this roadwork is long overdue and should enhance safety for all drivers who use this busy route.
To help ease the burden of the unexpected hiccup in your travel, detour signs will be posted to guide drivers to exit on S. Alamo St. instead, which should help minimize delays on the main roadways. Trust us; you’ll want to be on the lookout for those signs to avoid any unnecessary frustration on the road.
As part of a larger seven-phase repair project in the downtown area, this particular closure is just one piece of the puzzle. While the right lane at the ramp to westbound I-10 will also be closed, the restrictions are expected to be in place 24 hours a day until the work wraps up on February 16, 2025.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2025, improving the safety and functionality of these crucial roadways in our beloved city.
San Antonio, let’s embrace the changes ahead and work together to make our roads safer for everyone. Safe travels and mark those dates!
