Quick Response From Firefighters Prevents Further Damage in North Side Body Shop Fire

No Casualties Were Reported

A blaze erupted at a body shop on the North Side of San Antonio on Thursday morning. Quick action by San Antonio firefighters successfully limited the damage, preventing the flames from reaching any combustible material inside the property.

The Incident

According to the San Antonio Fire Department Public Information Officer, Joe Arrington, the fire was reported to have started around 7:45 a.m. in the 400 block of Culebra Road, near to North Brazos Street. Immediately upon receiving the alert, local firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

Considering the body shop’s close proximity to neighboring businesses and the common types of flammable materials auto repair shops use, the firefighters instantly escalated the situation to a second-alarm fire, as a precautionary measure.

Fire Control Efforts

On arrival, the firefighters found the fire localized in the office and a storage area on the second floor. Mercifully, the flames had not yet extended to the workspace, where numerous potentially combustible materials were stored, Arrington explained.

Applying the ensured techniques and coupled with their high level of professional training, the firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within 20 minutes of their arrival at the scene.

The Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation

At the time of the incident, the business was closed and fortunately, there were no reported injuries. As the dust begins to settle, the investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.

Community Response

The community has commended the efforts of the firefighters in their rapid response to the situation. Their quick actions have undoubtedly saved surrounding businesses from potential fire damage and the subsequent financial consequences that could have ensued.

The incident stands as a reminder of the critical role firefighters play in community safety and the immediate handling of unforeseen emergencies.
