San Antonio’s Garrett T. Capps and NASA Country Drop Single Ahead of New Album Release

About the Band

Garrett T. Capps and NASA Country have graced music lovers with a new single, “Flow State,” in advance of the group’s forthcoming album. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Capps is part of the city’s unique lineage of cosmic country music that began its journey with Doug Sahm and evolved to embrace distinctive acts like the Hickoids and the Butthole Surfers.

The group is preparing to release their second album, Everyone is Everyone, a record that is projected to further solidify their position in the cosmic country genre.

‘Everyone is Everyone’

The upcoming album serves as a prequel to what Capps refers to as his “Shadows trilogy,” a fascinating collection that includes his solo albums In the Shadows (Again) and All Right, All Night, and subsequent NASA Country’s debut album, People are Beautiful. As the title suggests, Everyone is Everyone is an encapsulation of a message of universal love, subtly reminiscent of an astronaut’s first glance of the earth from above, understanding that we all inhabit this miraculous planet together.

The Making of the Album

The entire production of Everyone is Everyone took place at Joe Treviño’s Blue Cat Studios in Southtown. The album is marked for release by Spaceflight, a notable 501(c)(3) nonprofit label based in Austin. The new single “Flow State” became a natural follow-up to the album’s first single “Ouray,” a piece described by Capps as a “cosmic river jam.”

The NASA Country Band

The team behind NASA Country’s cosmic tunes consists of celebrated San Antonio based bass player Odie, jazz drummer Kory Cook, lead guitarist and urban farmer Torin Metz, and Justin Boyd. Boyd, often referred to as the “Brian Eno of the group,” masterfully introduces the cosmic dimension to the music using his modular synthesizer.

Upcoming Events

Fans of the band will be able to join in the celebration at the release party for Everyone is Everyone on Nov. 14 at the Lonesome Rose, a venue owned by Capps. In addition to the album release, the event will mark the sixth anniversary of Lonesome Rose, renowned as the “oldest honky tonk on the St. Mary’s Strip.”

The party will also feature performances by other outstanding acts, including Elnuh and Precious Gems. Furthermore, those eager to witness the captivating performance of these cosmic country legends before November can catch them live on Sept. 26 at the River Revival Fest in New Braunfels and on Oct. 10 at the Kerrville Folk Festival’s Welcome Home Fest.
