This event is the 2024 Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Patriot Awards Gala, and it promises to be a night filled with star power and heartfelt recognitions.

A Star-Studded Lineup

Not only is Strait slated to perform, but he will also be joined by renowned actor and martial artist, Chuck Norris. The presence of these two legends adds an extra layer of excitement to an already remarkable evening. Norris will be the recipient of the prestigious Bob Hope Award of Excellence during the gala. With both men’s military backgrounds, this event will surely be a meaningful celebration of service and valor.

George Strait: A Musical Icon and Veteran

George Strait’s connection to the military runs deep. Serving in the United States Army from 1971 to 1975, Strait has long been a supporter of military causes. He has sold over 120 million albums in his storied career and recently achieved a remarkable feat by hosting the largest ticket concert in U.S. history, attended by nearly 111,000 fans at Kyle Field in College Station. In addition to his musical achievements, he actively supports various organizations aimed at helping wounded veterans, including the Military Warriors Support Foundation, right here in San Antonio.

Chuck Norris: From Air Force to Action Hero

As for Chuck Norris, he has a fascinating background of his own. After serving as an air policeman in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962, he developed a passion for martial arts while stationed in South Korea. Norris went on to earn black belts in several martial arts disciplines, including Tang Soo Do, Taekwondo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Not just a martial artist, he transitioned into acting and became famous for his roles in legendary films like “Way of the Dragon” alongside Bruce Lee, and the series “Walker, Texas Ranger.” Norris is admired not just for his action-packed roles but also for his philanthropy and unwavering support for veteran organizations.
