Highland Homes Makes a Generous Contribution to San Antonio Nonprofits

Highland Homes Donates $40,000 and Hundreds of Volunteer Hours to San Antonio Nonprofits

SAN ANTONIO – In an exemplary act of corporate social responsibility, Highland Homes, a distinguished homebuilder, has pledged an impressive donation and volunteered their time to several nonprofits based in San Antonio a year ago, in 2023.

Helping Out Local Charities

The company has generously given $40,000 equally to four different nonprofits, namely disABILITYsa, Communities in Schools, Ian’s Foundation, and Gardopia Gardens. Along with this monetary contribution, the employees of Highland Homes also invested over 100 collective volunteer hours, lending a helping hand to these various organizations.

A Statement from the Company

Ashley Leopold, the Volunteer Coordinator for the San Antonio division’s internal Heart of Highland Committee, which is charged with choosing the charities they support, expressed her fulfillment from the act of giving. “Providing support to local nonprofits every year is immensely satisfying,” she stated.

“Even more crucial, it allows our team to align with our mission statement, which emphasizes the importance of making a difference and having fun doing it. By encouraging our employee-owners to nominate local organizations that matter to them, we empower them not only to make an impact in the lives of our customers, but also contribute to the larger San Antonio community,” she added.

Beneficiaries of Highland Homes’ Generosity

One of the beneficiaries, Gardopia Gardens, shared how much they appreciated the donation. This charity aims to combat obesity and malnutrition by offering fresh produce to schools and communities. According to them, the donation enabled them to purchase necessary supplies, while the volunteered labor was applied to gardening projects at a local school.

Stephen Lucke, CEO and Founder of Gardopia Gardens, expressed his gratitude: “When we received the notification of nomination, the check, and the volunteering commitment, we were beyond thrilled. The donation enabled us to purchase tools, plants, and soil. It essentially helped us to counterbalance the cost of supporting the schools. Several schools in our locale lack sufficient funding, so this additional backing helps us ensure they aren’t short-changed when it comes to these gardening programs.”

A Significant Donation Across Texas

Overall, in 2023, Highland Homes managed to contribute a considerable sum, totaling $200,000, and nearly a staggering 1,300 volunteer hours to different nonprofits all over Texas.
