San Antonio-Area Gears Up for New Home Depot Distribution Center

Home Depot Plans to Open a Distribution Center in Elmendorf

In an effort to upgrade its service to professional builders and contractors, Home Depot Inc., a Georgia-based retail chain specializing in home improvement, is launching a new distribution center in the San Antonio region. Alongside plans for centers in Detroit, Los Angeles, and Toronto, the company announced a 400,000-square-foot center designated for Elmendorf, a suburb positioned on the southeastern perimeter of Bexar County.

Center Expansion to Create Local Employment

The center, located at 15720 Old Corpus Christi Road, is projected to create 75 to 100 new job opportunities. This is an optimistic development for the local economy as it showcases the company’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure within the region.

A Beacon for the Building Industry

The company, a leading player in the home improvement hold, has fashioned the to-be-constructed center as an essential component of its “pro ecosystem.” The site is set to house bulk quantities of items in high demand in the construction industry – counting lumber, roofing materials, and insulation among its stock.

Products Tailored to Local Market

As part of its promise of industry-grade services, Home Depot Inc. has assured that the inventory within all distribution centers will be customized to satisfy the requirements of the local market. This strategy, coupled with offering a dedicated sales team, sets the company apart as a reliable partner for prospective customers.

Nurturing the ‘Pro Ecosystem’

Senior Vice President of Outside Sales at Home Depot, Chip Devine, highlighted the strategic importance of their distribution network in fulfilling the needs of professional builders and contractors. In an official release, Devine stated, “Pros need a partner with the right product, depth of product, fulfillment capabilities, sales support, and management tools to help them get their jobs done.”

“Over the last several years, we have been investing to deliver a faster, more convenient, differentiated experience for our pros. Our distribution network is one piece of the comprehensive pro ecosystem we’re building to better meet the needs of this important customer,” added Devine.

The Economic Impact on Elmendorf

The Elmendorf community and the greater Bexar County will witness an economic bolstering as job creation and increased trade activity will contribute positively to the region’s economy. Through this expansion, Home Depot Inc. reinforces the role of private sector businesses in influencing the region’s economic growth.
