A major crash on the city’s southside shut down the highway for most of the day. Around 6 a.m., a car wreck along southbound I-37 and Fair Ave caused the highway to close to one lane, resulting in stop-and-go traffic for commuters.
At 10:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) posted on social media that a full closure of I-37 was anticipated until 4 p.m. This closure was necessary as crews worked to clear the aftermath of the crash, including removing overhead sign damage.
By the last update at 2 p.m., the highway had been successfully cleared and was once again open to traffic, allowing commuters to resume their journeys.
