San Antonio, TX – In a collaborative effort to fight hunger in the community, KIPP Texas Public Schools have partnered with the San Antonio Food Bank to organize food distribution events throughout the summer.

Helping Families in Need

The first of these food distribution events took place at KIPP Un Mundo Primary school. Emphasizing the importance of these events, the school’s principal, Shannon Tolliver, stated, “Now that school is out, we don’t want our families to go without. This partnership means our families are able to eat this week, this weekend, next week, and we’re going to continue to do partnerships throughout the summer.”

With schools being closed for the summer holidays, many families struggle to provide their children with nutritious meals. KIPP’s partnership with the Food Bank aims to ensure that these families have access to food, helping to bridge this gap.

An Open-Call for Assistance

Tolliver stressed that individuals do not need to have any affiliation with the school to receive food. Those in need can simply reach out to her directly or visit any of the food distribution events that will be held during the summer.

Extending Services Beyond Education

In addition to their academic program, KIPP Schools are also providing other essential services to the community such as counseling. The principal, in her statement, emphasized, “We know that when our kids are not in school, they’re still getting the same things we provide within our walls.”

Communal Effort to Fight Hunger

This partnership between KIPP Schools and San Antonio Food Bank is an evidence of the community’s commitment to helping each other, especially in times of need. It also shows the power that can be harnessed when institutions join forces for the betterment of their communities.

By ensuring every family has access to essential food supplies, KIPP Schools and the San Antonio Food Bank are not only fighting hunger but also promoting the overall health and well-being of the community.

More Distributions Planned for the Summer

While the fight against hunger is ongoing, both institutions have committed to holding more of these food distribution events throughout the summer and potentially beyond. This not only solidifies their commitment to the community but also provides a reliable support system for families who may be uncertain of their next meal.
