San Antonio, on a bright and sunny weekend in late April, a monstrous sight overshadowed the Fiesta Carnival. The sight was not from another world but from The Netherlands, and it goes by the name, “The Kraken.”
The Kraken, a ginormous pendulum ride, has taken the center stage at the annual Fiesta Carnival. Towering over the carnival at an astonishing 80 feet tall and reaching a spine-chilling height of 147 feet mid-swing, it’s a sight that promises to delicately blur the line between excitement and fear.
“The Kraken” brought over by Marina and John Small of Iconic Midway Rides, is no less than a mesmerizing spectacle. After extensive research aiming to bring a unique thrill experience to U.S. soil, the Smalls settled on this titanic ride.
Marina Zaitshik-Small, a member of the Iconic Midway Rides team, said, We wanted to bring a ride to the U.S. that was going to be a true head-turner
adding that after their diligent exploration, they found The Kraken to be the perfect choice.
The ride is a gargantuan pendulum-style attraction, more than double the size of any similar ride present in the U.S. With the intent to challenge thrill-seekers, and provide a heart-pounding experience to the brave-hearted, The Kraken certainly stands out in the crowd.
The ride’s gravity-defying presence is set to create waves across multiple state fairs; with Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Oklahoma on its sight. But for now, it holds its sway at Fiesta San Antonio, offering rides to daring visitors till April 28.
Its debut has been met with tremendous excitement. Lines of eager and thrill-hungry attendees have been growing longer, waiting their turn to face The Kraken’s roar.
Be sure to follow updates on The Kraken’s journey across the states, highlighting its next stops and adventures.
The Kraken is more than just a thrill ride. It is a testament to the will of event organizers, bringing international attractions and experiences to local events, enriching our fiestas and fairs with diversity of joy and thrill. So what are you waiting for? Join in, take the plunge, and embrace the thrill of The Kraken!
