– Community leaders broke ground on the much-anticipated affordable housing project, Four25 San Pedro Apartments, near downtown San Antonio on Monday. This pioneering initiative, aimed to curb housing woes for individuals and families with low income, has been welcomed by residents and housing advocates.
Providing Affordable Housing for San Antonio’s Most Needy
The Four25 San Pedro Apartments will consist of 80 housing units, with rental availability focusing on families and individuals earning at or below 60% of the area’s median income. The project is targeting an annual income of approximately $47,800 or less for a given family comprising three members.
Out of the 80 units, 25 will be specifically reserved for individuals or families who have experienced sustained periods of homelessness, typically spanning a year or more. This allocation plays a pivotal part in the city’s broader scheme of addressing homelessness and housing insecurity.
Partnering with SAMMinistries for Comprehensive Support
The project will engage SAMMinistries, a prominent local non-profit organization, to provide supportive services to the residents of these designated units. These services will extend to aspects of mental and physical health improvement through establishment of on-site clinics.

Additional Services and Amenities for Tenants

All these provisions will be accessible for all tenants, regardless of the designated units for the previously homeless.
A Milestone for the 2017 Neighborhoods Improvement Bond
The apartment complex, located on the 400 block of San Pedro Avenue, is the final affordable housing project supported by the 2017 Neighborhoods Improvement Bond. This completes an important chapter in the city’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and invigorate the neighborhoods while ensuring affordable living conditions for its residents.
