Major Crash Causes Morning Delays in San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas saw significant traffic interruptions on the morning of September 25, 2024, as multiple crashes unfolded on major thoroughfares. If you were on the road today, you probably noticed the backups and slow-moving vehicles, especially around the Northwest Side of the city. Just before 7:15 a.m., a major crash took place on I-10 near Huebner Road, causing chaos for commuters trying to make their way to work or school.

Details of the I-10 Incident

According to reports from the Texas Department of Transportation, the accident impacted the eastbound lanes of I-10. Images captured by Transguide cameras revealed that emergency responders from the San Antonio Fire Department and local police were quick to arrive at the scene. Unfortunately, the crash blocked three lanes of traffic, including two critical main lanes, leading to significant backups.

As vehicles crept along, traffic monitoring site SigAlert reported that drivers faced waiting times of up to one hour to get through the area. Some motorists were reported to be moving as slow as 4 mph, adding to the frustration of the morning commute. Many drivers experienced delays that extended all the way back to La Cantera Parkway, making it a stressful start to the day.

Traffic Jam on Highway 90

West Side of San Antonio, the situation wasn’t any better. Another crash occurred on Highway 90 near Cupples Road at the same time, causing similar havoc. Also reported around 7:15 a.m., this accident blocked three eastbound lanes, including two main lanes, and traffic was backed up to 36th Street. Just like the I-10 incident, delays of up to one hour were reported here as well.

I-35 Incident Near Schertz

Heading towards the Northeast Side of town, drivers faced another headache on I-35 North between FM 482 and FM 2252, close to Schertz. Traffic was at a complete standstill, with SigAlert indicating that vehicles were bumper to bumper all the way back to Evans Road. Just like the prior incidents, three lanes were blocked, including two main lanes, leaving many drivers searching for alternate routes.

Emergency vehicles were also spotted at this location, ostensibly providing assistance to those involved in the collision. It’s still unclear how many vehicles were part of these crashes or if there were any injuries reported, but it’s been a morning filled with frustration and confusion for many.

Ongoing Updates

This is a developing story, and it seems that the *traffic situation* will continue to evolve throughout the day. As the cleanup and investigation processes commence, we encourage everyone to stay tuned for updates on the situation.
