Man Detained After Purposely Running Over His Wife, Police Discloses

San Antonio Man Faces Serious Criminal Charges

In a ghastly accident that left the local community in shock, a San Antonio man is currently detained for intentionally running over his wife following an argument in their vehicle, authorities confirmed.

The Gruesome Incident

The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning around 3 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Fair Avenue towards the South Side. According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the couple, Jacob Villegas, 37, and his wife were in their vehicle when Villegas brought the car to a halt.

After his wife exited the vehicle, Villegas deliberately accelerated, running her over, police reports indicate.

Victim Rushed to Hospital

Following the incident, the victim was immediately rushed to a local hospital. She is currently reported to be in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The shocking incident has left the victim fighting for her life while her husband now faces serious criminal charges.

Jacob Villegas Detained over Aggravated Assault Charge

Villegas was subsequently detained by the responding officers at the scene. SAPD has confirmed that he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in this case, the vehicle being the weapon.

The incident has placed a spotlight on domestic violence issues, renewing community calls for improved resources and support for victims in the aftermath of such heinous crimes.

One More Addition to Increasing Domestic Crimes

Unfortunately, this incident is not the first of its kind. There has been a visible increase in domestic crime, particularly during the pandemic. Authorities are urging individuals trapped in abusive relationships to step forward, assuring them of due protection and legal support. Rankings from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reveal that 1 in 3 women in Texas have been victims of such abuses during their lifetime. This disturbing reality underscores the urgent need for heightened societal awareness and legal measures to combat these issues.
