Memorial Service for Beloved San Antonio Ventriloquist Nacho Estrada to Take Place this Weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Nacho Estrada, a cherished local talent, remembered

Over the weekend, memories will be shared, laughter will be exchanged, and tears may be shed as San Antonio bids a final farewell to one of its truly unique talents. Beloved ventriloquist Ignacio “Nacho” Estrada, who passed away in January at the age of 77, will be honored in a memorial service scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.

The service will be livestreamed on YouTube, enabling admirers of Estrada’s craft both near and far to partake in the celebration of his life and legacy, according to close family sources. Having spent decades charming San Antonio schoolchildren with his ventriloquism, Estrada’s influence was far-reaching, and his death followed an extended battle with illness.

Estrada’s Lasting Impact on the Community

An icon of the 80s and 90s, Estrada frequently visited area high schools with his ventriloquist dolls, notably his dummy named Maclovio, aiming to engage and educate pupils with a unique twist. Through his performances, he advocated for students to stay in school, avoid drugs and respect the environment – lessons that continue to resonate with those he reached.

His family has now extended an invitation to fans and well-wishers to share memories and express condolences. Letters can be sent to [email protected] or mailed to The Nacho Estrada Family at P.O. Box 158, Leming, TX 78050. In lieu of flowers, Estrada’s family encouraged supporters to offer donations to the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Nacho Estrada’s Legacy and What’s Next

Beyond the weekend’s memorial service, Estrada’s legacy will linger. His zeal for using an unusual medium to captivate young minds and deliver influential messages set a robust example for educators and performers alike. The stories of his ventriloquist characters and their impact will continue to be recounted, ensuring that even in absence, his unique voice will be remembered.

His family has yet to announce any specific plans to continue Estrada’s legacy. However, they expressed their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support following their loss and the curiosity that the community showed for his unique pursuit of spreading important messages among young people through ventriloquism.

Clearly, San Antonio will sorely miss its beloved ventriloquist, Nacho Estrada. But the memories of his mesmerizing performances and his indefatigable spirit will live on in the hearts of those he inspired.
