Urgent Search For Missing 13-Year-Old, Jaylen Yates

San Antonio, May 4th, 2024

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is spearheading a desperate search for a missing 13-year-old boy, Jaylen Yates, who was last seen on April 30, 2024. Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jaylen, who disappeared from his residence in the 7800 block of Walzem Rd.

Description of Jaylen Yates

Jaylen is a tall boy for his age, standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair, contributing to a rather average appearance that belies his young age.

When last seen, Jaylen was wearing a simple ensemble of a black T-shirt and grey jeans. Notably, the teen was wearing a pair of distinctive purple and black Jordan shoes, which authorities hope might aid in his identification.

Last Contact with Jaylen

The last known contact with Jaylen was made by his mother on May 1, 2024. According to her, Jaylen confirmed that he would return home by 11:00 AM. However, days have passed and there has been no sign of him since.

A worrying development of note is that authorities now believe Jaylen could possibly be in the Sunrise neighborhood of Kirby. While it’s unclear why this location has been pinpointed, it stands to reason that this could be a significant lead in the ongoing investigation.

How The Public Can Help

Authorities are urging anyone with any information regarding Jaylen’s whereabouts to step forward and contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) directly at (210) 335-6000.

Alternatively, individuals can email the BCSO’s Missing Persons Unit at missingpersons@bexar.org. Every lead, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could prove valuable in locating Jaylen and bringing him home safe.

Community Involvement

The search for Jaylen Yates is not just an effort of law enforcement but also a collective endeavor of the community. It is during these trying times that community solidarity shines the brightest. The desire to bring Jaylen back to his family safe and sound extends beyond the BCSO and speaks to the sense of communal responsibility that binds us together. Let it serve as a reminder of the importance of being vigilant about the well-being of all members of our community.

As we continue to hope for the safe return of Jaylen Yates, we are reminded once again of the fragility of life and the importance of community, compassion, and shared responsibility. Let’s stay united and bring Jaylen home.
