Emilio Cordova Mendoza, who was reported missing earlier this week from a Westover Hills based hospital, has been found safe and returned home, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Widespread Search for Mr. Mendoza Ends with Relief

The authorities had put forth an urgent call, appealing to the public for assistance in the quest to find Mr. Mendoza, fearing for his safety due to his age and the initial reason for his hospital transportation. It can now be reported that the concerted effort brought about a positive outcome with the finding of Mr. Mendoza safe and sound, to the relief of law enforcement and family members alike. He was found on the night of Saturday, April 13th, and has since been returned to his family.

Chronology of Events Leading to the Disappearance

Mr. Mendoza, an elderly San Antonio resident, was seen for the last time on Monday, April 8th at the prominent Westover Hills institution, Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, prior to his unexplained disappearance. Based on the report from the Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Mendoza was transported to the hospital via ambulance service, following a medical episode that required immediate attention.

Upon his arrival at the medical facility, it was between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, when hospital records indicate that Emilio Cordova Mendoza happened to leave the hospital on foot, sparking concerns given the uncertainty of his medical condition at the time.

Community Response in Aid of the Search

The swift response from the Sheriff’s Office when the disappearance was first noted resulted in an appeal to the public for any relevant information. The Bexar County Missing Persons Department had earlier requested the assistance of the public, urging those with any knowledge of Mr. Mendoza’s whereabouts to make contact. The Department had set up a hotline, 210-335-6000, to expedite the provision of lead-ins from the public.

Relief as Mr. Mendoza is Found Safe

The extensive search efforts culminated in Mr. Mendoza’s safe return home on Sunday, April 14th. The heartening news was greeted with immense relief by the relatives, neighbors, and indeed, the entire San Antonio community, ending a tense week of uncertainties.
