News Summary

A search is underway for 77-year-old Ronnie Southern, known as ‘Cowboy Ronnie,’ who has been missing since late January in San Antonio. Community members and neighbors are rallying to find him, with his last sighting reported on January 30. Pizana, a close neighbor and friend, has led efforts alongside local support groups, raising concerns about Southern’s welfare due to potential living conditions. The community remains hopeful for his safe return and urges anyone with information to contact local authorities.

Urgent Search Underway for “Cowboy Ronnie” Southern in San Antonio

San Antonio is buzzing with worry as the search intensifies for 77-year-old Ronnie Southern, lovingly known by the community as “Cowboy Ronnie.” This beloved character has been missing since late January, leaving a void that is felt deeply by his neighbors, who’ve taken on a familial role in his life.

A Community Favorite

Cowboy Ronnie is a regular at the Elvira Cisneros Senior Center, where he’s widely admired for his karaoke performances on weekends. He typically shows up every weekday around 11 a.m., after enjoying a breakfast at Wendy’s. His most common sighting is returning home in the evening between 6:30 and 7 p.m. This routine has been consistent for years, so when he stopped showing up, alarms went off among his friends and neighbors.

The Last Sighting

The last confirmed sighting of Southern was on Thursday, January 30, when neighbors reported seeing him drive away from his home. Unfortunately, he never returned, leaving everyone confused and anxious for his well-being.

Taking Action

His neighbor, Martin Pizana, has been actively searching for Southern since he disappeared, filing a missing persons report on February 3. Pizana and his family have known Cowboy Ronnie for 28 years and have formed a close bond with him, treating him like family. It’s hard to imagine their lives without his friendly presence, and they are determined to find him.

Community Efforts

The concern for Southern is palpable within the community, with many stepping up to help in the search efforts. Search and Support San Antonio is working alongside Pizana and others, planning a thorough search of Southern’s properties. However, conditions are complicated; there are reports that Southern may have been living in hoarding conditions, hampering the welfare checks conducted by police at his home.

Unusual Observations

In the months leading up to his disappearance, Pizana noticed an unknown Hispanic man possibly in his 40s visiting Southern’s home with some regularity. The nature of these visits remains a mystery, adding to the concern surrounding Southern’s sudden disappearance.

Communicating Difficulties

Adding to the worry, attempts to reach Southern by phone have proven futile, as his cell phone goes directly to voicemail. This unusual silence is yet another red flag for those who know him well.

A Call for Help

The community is rallying together in this time of need, hoping for Southern’s safe return. Unfortunately, the situation is further complicated by the fact that the case does not qualify for a Silver Alert, as Southern does not have Alzheimer’s or dementia, and the missing persons report was filed after the first critical 72 hours since he vanished.

Vehicle Information

Southern was last seen driving his 2012 white Jeep Liberty, which bears Texas license plate CJN7626. Anyone who may have seen this vehicle or has any information regarding Cowboy Ronnie’s whereabouts is strongly urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department’s missing persons unit at 210-207-7660.

Hope for Cowboy Ronnie

As the days go by, the urgency for Cowboy Ronnie’s safe return becomes increasingly critical. The community’s love and support for him is evident, and everyone remains hopeful that he will be found soon. Please join in the search and keep your eyes peeled—every little bit of help matters.
