San Antonio has been gripped by the unsettling disappearance of Suzanne Clark Simpson, a beloved mother of four. With each passing day since she went missing on October 7, the community grows more worried as authorities expand their search efforts.
As of October 14, the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that investigators are now searching a landfill in Southeast Bexar County. This marks the third distinct area authorities have combed through in their quest for clues regarding the missing mother. Just last week, searches focused on the vicinity of her home in Olmos Park and later in Boerne, about 30 miles north of San Antonio.
Authorities have not shared many details about the ongoing searches, leaving the community anxious for updates. “The Department of Public Safety and the Olmos Park Police Department continue their search and investigation,” a spokesperson shared, urging anyone with information to step forward.
With the investigation ongoing, Suzanne’s family, particularly her mother, Barbara Clark, is struggling with their fears. During a candlelit vigil at Lourdes Grotto on October 13, Barbara expressed her heartbreak, revealing she hadn’t heard from her daughter in a week and is beginning to presume the worst. “I came up with an alternative plan for her that she would move in with me. I never got to tell her the plan,” she lamented.
In a turn of events, Suzanne’s husband, Brad Simpson, has been behind bars since just after her disappearance. He faces charges related to family violence and unlawful restraint, with a hefty bond set at $2 million. Neighbors reported a possible altercation between the couple the night she vanished. A witness alleged that they saw Brad physically assault Suzanne and prevent her from fleeing their home.
After the screams were heard, Brad reportedly left in his black GMC pickup truck and didn’t return for about two hours. Alarmingly, he waited approximately 24 hours before finally reporting Suzanne missing, raising even more questions for the authorities.
During a recent press conference, Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas made a heartfelt plea to Suzanne, asking her to come forward if she is safe. “These four kids miss their mom, so we’re doing everything we can,” he said, emphasizing the heartbreak their family is experiencing.
While Brad initially cooperated with police, he later became more evasive, hiring a lawyer and skipping follow-up interviews. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have spoken to other members of the Simpson family, who are said to be cooperating.
The search for Suzanne remains a top priority for local law enforcement and the community. As the investigation unfolds, each day brings renewed hope for her safe return, with a growing number of San Antonio residents keeping her family in their thoughts and prayers.
As the community rallies together, they share a singular hope: that Suzanne will soon find her way back home, and the answers to this troubling case will come to light. It’s a situation no family should have to face, and the collective heartache is felt across the city.
