San Antonio is mourning multiple motorcycle accidents that have resulted in devastating losses. A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle on Loop 1604. Just days later, a 75-year-old man died after a truck backed into him on Wetmore Road. Another motorcyclist lost his life in a collision involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer. The community is urged to prioritize road safety amidst these tragic events.
In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the San Antonio area has seen multiple motorcycle accidents leading to devastating losses. Just late Sunday evening, a 34-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after attempting to overtake an 18-wheeler on the busy South Loop 1604. The incident happened around 9:12 p.m. in the 2700 block, precisely at Oak Island Drive in far south Bexar County, shaking the local community to its core.
Witnesses shared that the motorcyclist was speeding through the westbound lanes before tragically colliding with another vehicle. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene; however, the motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead before he could be transported to the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver and a passenger in the vehicle that was struck experienced injuries, including cuts on their heads and bruising on their shoulders. They were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
As the investigation unfolded, both directions of Loop 1604 were closed for around two hours, causing a significant traffic jam as authorities worked diligently to gather evidence and clear the area.
To compound the horror, a passing SUV rolled over the already fallen motorcyclist. Emergency Medical Services responded swiftly, but unfortunately, they pronounced him dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that neither the truck driver nor the SUV driver would face charges, and both stayed on-site to assist during the investigation.
As investigations continue, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the man’s identity and determine the cause of death.
