The highly anticipated annual Dia de los Muertos festival will be featured on Cooking Channel’s popular show “Carnival Eats” this week.
Television viewers across the nation will get a glimpse into the San Antonio’s vibrant food scene intricately woven with the Muertos Fest. The episode titled “Parmageddon” is slated to air this Sunday, showcasing the tantalizing food offerings typical of this colorful celebration.
“The strength of Muertos Fest lies in the coming together of the community, from altar builders, performers to our diverse food vendors. We are ecstatic that Carnival Eats has chosen to highlight our local food vendors and their contribution to the fest”, said Jim Mendiola, the festival’s artistic director.
The episode will present an array of mouth-watering food options from the festival on display, with the show’s host Noah Cappe getting a firsthand experience of these delicacies. On the menu will be gourmet favorites such as loaded Oaxacan tamale, Elote dog, a bacon-wrapped hot dog loaded with street corn, and a smash burger taco. Adding a twist to breakfast sandwiches, Cappe will also be tasting one on a Pan de Muerto bun, a hallmark of Dia de los Muertos celebrations.
While the food is sure to steal the spotlight in Sunday’s episode, the annual Muertos Fest is a grand melting pot of culture and community spirit.
