Excitement Builds in San Antonio for the 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four

San Antonio is buzzing with excitement as the city gears up to host the NCAA Men’s Final Four tournament at the iconic Alamodome! Basketball fans from near and far will gather to witness the thrilling semifinals on Saturday, April 5, followed by the highly anticipated championship game on Monday, April 7. This event marks the fifth time that the Alamodome has showcased this spectacular tournament, making it a cherished tradition for the city.

A Weekend Packed with Activities

But it’s not just the games fans should be excited about; a variety of fun-filled events will take over downtown San Antonio throughout the weekend. From festivities that celebrate the spirit of college basketball to activities that showcase the local culture, there will be no shortage of entertainment for everyone to enjoy!

Street Closures to Keep in Mind

To accommodate the expected influx of visitors, there are some important street closures you need to know about. Starting Monday, South Alamo Street – between Commerce Street and East César E. Chávez Boulevard – will be closed daily from 6 a.m. to midnight until April 8. Montana Street will also see closures, between the Interstate 37 access road and Cherry Street, beginning Wednesday and lasting through April 7.

If you’re planning to head downtown for the big weekend, remember that East Nueva Street will be closed from Friday through April 7. Also, the I-37 access road to Montana, Gonzales, and Hoefgen streets will be off-limits all day on Friday, Saturday, and April 7. Additional closures will affect the northbound lane of Dwyer Avenue at Old Guilbeau Street from Friday through Sunday during the evening hours.

Parking Options Galore!

Parking can be a challenge during such a big event, but don’t worry! There will be free public parking available in Lot B starting at 9 a.m. on Friday for the Reese’s Men’s Final Four team practices, which are open to the public. However, it’s essential to note that there will be no public parking at the Alamodome during the Final Four games themselves.

But don’t fret if you don’t want to miss the action. Game day parking for individuals with disabilities will be available for purchase, ensuring everyone can enjoy the festivities. Visitors are also encouraged to use one of the 12 city-run parking garages scattered around downtown San Antonio.

Get Around with Public Transportation

If you’d prefer to skip the hassle of parking altogether, why not take advantage of the public transportation options? Buses will be running from two VIA Metropolitan Park and Ride locations: Crossroads Park & Ride at 151 Crossroads Boulevard and Blossom Athletic Center at 12002 Jones Maltsberger Road. Buses will drop off passengers at East Nueva Street and Jack White Way, conveniently located near La Villita Historic Village.

The bus service will operate from 2:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday, 1 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, and 12:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, all with return service to North Side locations. Best of all, the fare for a bus ride is just $1.30!

Security and Logistics to Ensure a Safe Event

With such a large number of visitors expected for the tournament, San Antonio is implementing heightened security measures and logistical arrangements to ensure everyone has a fantastic and safe experience. Keeping safety at the forefront means that everyone can focus on what matters most: cheering on their favorite teams!

So, whether you’re a die-hard basketball fan or just looking for some exciting weekend activities, San Antonio is the place to be come April. Get ready for an unforgettable experience filled with sports, community spirit, and all the wonderful things this vibrant city has to offer!
