Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Marks its First Grand Opening Amidst San Antonio Expansion

Bargain Lovers in San Antonio, Brace Yourselves

Known for its motto of “good stuff cheap”, the famous bargain outlet Ollie’s has announced the expansion of its footprint in San Antonio. The bargain store chain, based out of Pennsylvania, is set to open numerous new stores in and around the city. The grand opening of its first location is scheduled for Thursday, September 26th, marking a significant development in the store’s ever expanding journey.

The Background

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet set up its first store in the San Antonio area in 2021, located off of Loop 410 in Leon Valley. Following this introduction, the chain went on to inaugurate two more stores in November 2023; one at the Gateway Plaza close to Lackland and the other at the Woodlake Crossing shopping center, nestled between Kirby and Converse.

The New Frontier

The company unveiled its ambitious plan on Monday, September 24, which includes the grand opening of 10 new outlets situated inside the premises of previously operational 99 Cent Stores. These new stores will be spread across various Texas cities including Dallas, Houston, McAllen, and of course, San Antonio.

This game-changing move comes after the company emerged victorious in a bidding war to take over the 99 Cent Store locations that were suffering due to bankruptcy. The company’s adept feat has paved the way for this successful takeover and subsequent expansion.

First of the Many

Among the aforementioned locations, the first to be revived as an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is the store located at 2942 Old Thousand Oaks Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78247. Scheduled to kick start at 9 a.m. this upcoming Thursday, this grand opening is expected to establish a new chapter for the brand in the region.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet presents its customers with a diverse range of products perfected by closeouts, overstocks, package changes, manufacturer refurbished goods, and irregulars. The unique assortment of goods is what sets Ollie’s apart. The company also maintains a personalized glossary which defines these ‘irregular’ products as ones that did not meet production standards of the manufacturer, such as misaligned stitches on clothes.

Further adding to its customer service initiative, the store ensures customer satisfaction by offering a “30-day No Hard Time Guarantee” refund on products that fail to meet expectations, for whatever reason.

The Future

The total number of San Antonio 99 Cent Stores that will be rebranded and reopen as Ollie’s Bargain Outlets hasn’t been confirmed yet. But, judging from the previously established 99 Cent Stores footprint of five locations in San Antonio, we can anticipate a considerable expansion of the Ollie’s brand in the area.

Currently Ollie’s operates over 540 stores across 31 states in the USA, with this bold expansion move, it continues to strengthen its commitment to provide quality items at modest prices.
