Hill Country Town Welcomes Peach Season with Fruity Festival and Rodeo

Texas – The peach season has officially begun in Texas. For those who going all gaga over the delectable and juicy stone fruit, now is the time to indulge in the sweetness during the annual Peach Jamboree and Rodeo in the charming Hill Country town of Stonewall.

Peach Jamboree and Rodeo from June 21-22

For the 63rd year running, the town of Stonewall is set to host a grand event – the Peach Jamboree and Rodeo, from June 21-22. However, the festivities kick off a day in advance on June 20 with a slack rodeo event at 8 pm and the vibrant tunes of the dance hall band, Wagon Aces at 10 pm.

Promising Events and Contests

The main rodeo event commences the next day at 6 pm, featuring mutton busting, a children’s version of bull riding, and the introduction of contestants vying for the coveted title of Peach Queen. A string of rodeo events and live country music by The Great Divide follows suit.

The Sunday affair has even more to offer – a judged parade starting at 10 am and a baking, preserve, and salsa contest beginning at 10:45 am. Peach lovers can indulge in numerous ways of savoring the fruit, including eating and pit spitting contests. Delicious barbecue will be up for sale, coupled with pro rodeo events and more live music. The event concludes with dance tunes from the popular country group, the Josh Abbott Band.

A Weekend Getaway

Festivity goers who would like to make a complete weekend trip out of it have numerous sightseeing options around Stonewall. Visitors can experience some of the best wineries in the world nearby, including William Chris Vineyards, Pedernales Cellars, which hosts live music on Saturdays, and Becker Vineyards, known for its enticing lavender fields.

Those who fancy something other than wine can head to Garrison Brothers Distillery, the first legal distillery in Texas. For a non-alcoholic excursion, the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site provides a fascinating insight into the birthplace of the former president.
