A woman in her 40s tragically lost her life after being struck by a car late Sunday night in San Antonio’s Medical Center area. The incident occurred at the intersection of Babcock Road and Medical Drive, near Wurzbach Road, around 11 p.m.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the woman was attempting to cross the street without using a crosswalk when she was hit by a black sedan. The driver of the vehicle reportedly stated that they did not see the woman until it was too late to avoid the collision.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders from the San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car involved in the incident stopped immediately to provide assistance following the collision.
The identity of the deceased woman has not been disclosed by authorities, as they are currently working to notify her next of kin.
This unfortunate incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety, especially when crossing roadways. It underscores the need for both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.
