San Antonio, Texas – A grim incident late in the midnight hours left a ride share driver seriously injured, shot in the crossfire between a passenger and an unknown assailant, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). The shooting occurred close to 12:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Anchor Drive, a neighborhood tucked away within the confines of Lockhill Selma Road and Northwest Military Highway.
Details of the incident are still emerging but preliminary investigations by the SAPD indicate the presence of a shooter both inside and outside the driver’s vehicle. It is currently believed that an unknown individual targeted the shooting at the ride share driver’s passenger, who responded by firing back. Law enforcement arrived at a scene littered with shell casings, found both within and outside the ride share vehicle.
In the chaos of the shoot-out, the ride share driver was injured, sustaining a gunshot wound to the back. Emergency services were quickly on the scene with the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS teams responding swiftly. Following immediate treatment at the scene, the ride share victim was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical assistance and remains in serious condition.
Meanwhile, the passenger involved in the shootout and the initial attacker fled the scene. Their current whereabouts are unknown, with the SAPD actively searching for both individuals. No further details about the identities of the passenger, assailant or the ride share driver have been released.
The SAPD is urging anyone who may have been a witness to the incident, or who may know anything about the current locations of the passenger or their attacker, to come forward and cooperate with the investigation. The motive of the shooting remains unclear and the authorities are optimistic of its resolution with the assistance of the public.
